A good gift should communicate something, mostly the thought that is supposed to proverbially count for something. But something more than notional is the difference between a fond memory and a forgotten gesture.
A memorable gift is worth more than its price.
Whiskey requires a story for context. So much of each bottle depends on what’s meaningful about it? How its made? Where is it from? Why this bottle and not one of thousands of others? Whiskey is an object and an experience, which is a nice combo in an era of digital existence. It’s a gift the recipient can immediately crack open and pour for the both of you, creating a shared experience right away.
Alcohol has long served a social purpose of bringing people together, bridging differences, and creating togetherness in a way that tends to take on heightened importance around the holidays. In an era of performative wellness (and strong differences), alcohol is maybe going through a period of marginalization, though one should consider the antecedents of this movement. I happen to be a believer in moderation, both for booze and for temperaments.
With the harvest season of gratitude and the holidays that follow for gifting and joy, I’ll argue that nothing says I’d love to make some time to do better and be more aligned than a bottle of our finest whiskeys. And if you’re at a loss for words, we publish a lot of information about our distillery, our process, and the whiskeys themselves to make it easier to start a conversation for after you take the first sip.
Whiskey is symbolic of mother nature and father time, coming together with the best of the harvest, years ago, aged to perfection. It’s a time capsule and an alchemical elixir that can transform a mundane or even unpleasant task: like dinner with the extended family into something memorable, emotionally meaningful, and maybe even poetic.
